‘I hear’ is a piece for chorus, brass quartet and timpani written for Quay Voices and musicians from Young Sinfonia. The piece was commissioned through the PRSF Artist Development Scheme at Sage Gateshead (Newcastle, UK). It was premiered on Saturday 9th June 2018, conducted by Matt Beckingham.
The piece is based on a selection of verses and words from Friedrich Schiller’s Ode to Joy and Walt Whitman’s I Sit and Look Out.
